PICTURE THIS May 24, 2017 04:00 2 Comments

The calendar may say spring, but summer is definitely in the air. If you're anticipating an event-filled summer, you'll want to capture all the special moments in outfits that are pretty-as-a-picture and camera-ready.

We have only a few short months to enjoy the carefree vibe of summertime, so plan out your social calendar but leave room for spontaneity. You may not be able to do it all, but you can do it stylishly. The goal here is to look back on the snapshots of SS17 with a smile. Let's take a look at what's developing.

A balmy summer afternoon, need I say more?  Now, picture this...You're hosting an incredible backyard BBQ and your focus is on your guests having fun. Set the table and the scene in a top with standout detailing.

Get the Look: Top- Bailey/44

Or, picture this instead...You're on vacation in a tropical paradise, the sun is filtering through the palm trees, the sounds of the ocean waves and steel drum rhythms peacefully blend together in the background, while hints of Jasmine waft along a breeze. How about a stroll on the beach in a breezy tank dress?

Get the Look: Dress- Lisa Todd

You're invited to a summer wedding...picture yourself in this dress and let the compliments begin. Actually, if versatility matters, picture yourself wearing a version of this dress to any event this summer as inspired by the following portraits.

Hmmm...look what I found under the colorful overlay. Picture yourself having a great time wearing this classic tank dress to the soiree of the summer, the "Longest Table" charity fundraiser, (June 23rd, on the red bricks outside of Carabella). This dress is a blank canvas and clearly meant to be layered, accessorized, and customized to your unique style.

The light-as-a-feather overlay creates an unexpected scarf and the frayed woven fabric adds visual interest to the open-front casual jacket.

Using the overlay as an accessory in a way when it's least expected is the key to style.

Blur the lines between day-wear and night-wear in this look of inspired artistry. The overlay works beautifully as a stand-alone top/tunic.

Summer goes by in a flash...make every moment count!

MUM'S THE WORD May 10, 2017 03:46 3 Comments

Mother's Day is almost here and you know your mom the best. Sure, you appreciate your mom year-round, but May 14th is the date to really show some love and how much your mother/mother figure means to you. Finding an appropriate gift to show how special she is should be fun! So, to make sure your Mother's Day gift is the best one yet and not something you can pick up at any old store, I've gathered some inspiring looks to spoil mom Carabella-style. But don't just buy mom something pretty to wear, take her some place special to wear it. For a truly unforgettable Mother's Day, give mom the day off from cooking and treat her to a taste of Oakmont.

Deciding on the perfect confection at Oakmont Bakery isn't easy...deciding on the perfect dress IS. I love everything about this dress- the shape, length, stretch fabric, classic color, and eyelet detail is sure to put a smile on mom's face. You can never go wrong with a beautiful handbag. For brownie points, place a heartfelt note inside this gorgeous handbag and let the gift itself be the carryall, and your handwritten note be the "gift."

Get the Look: Dress- Shoshanna / Handbag- Christopher Kon

Many memorable meals are recounted at Hoffstot's Cafe Monaco, which makes it an ideal spot to take mom and reminisce about why you're her favorite. If you think mom would like a beautiful light-weight summer sweater, you'd probably be right.

Get the Look: Sweater- Margaret O'Leary

If mom has an appreciation for the past, the atmosphere at What's Cooking at Casey's, is warm and relaxing with unexpected touches of nostalgia. The combination of patterns on this beautiful hand-knit cardigan, along with an eclectic mix of silver buttons makes it a one-of-a kind Mother's Day must-have.

Get the Look: Sweater- Elaris

The quaint Mighty Oak Barrel resides at the Hulton bridge end of Oakmont in a space that is fun, friendly, and conversational. For something a little different, surprise mom with a classic leather jacket that she will thank you for year-round. Compliment the jacket with a leather and gemstone bracelet.

Get the Look: Leather Jacket- Bano-eeMee / Bracelet- SuZy Designs

The Pub at 333, is a great place for a Mother's Day gathering, and if the weather is good, book a table outside and enjoy what's happening around you. I can't think of a mom, especially "new" mom, who wouldn't appreciate the comfort and wearability of this snap-front shirt. Of course mom needs something fabulous to carry, and this yellow handbag will do nicely.

Get the Look: Shirt- David Cline / Handbag- Christopher Kon / Bracelet- SuZy T Designs

If you prefer to give mom the opportunity to pick her own Mother's Day present, a Carabella gift card will ensure she gets exactly what she wants; available in store and online.

Mother's Day is actually the most popular day of the year to dine out, and a reservation at Chelsea Grille is a delicious way to celebrate mom or any special event. My favorite people in the world are the ones, (well actually four), that call me mom, but today, the guest of honor is the woman that helped shape my life, my mom, Carol. My mom and I share many hobbies, but most special to us is our love of sewing. Wearing the clothes my mom designed and hand-made was (and is) very special to me. She puts love into every stitch...she's my inspiration, my best friend, my everything. Her best motherly advice to me...."This too shall pass."

Get the Look: T-shirt- Michael Stars / Skirt- Lilla P / Green Sweater- jack & jo / White Sweater- Elaris

If you see something here that you think your mom would love, trust your instincts, chances are she'll feel the same way. Whatever you decide to do for Mother's Day, be sure to tell mom that you love her...the sweetest things in life are free. In honor of mom's everywhere, I'd like to wish you a very Happy Mother's Day!

What funny, crazy, or inspiring words of wisdom has your mom imparted to you that you never forget? I'd love to know in the comment section below.

Some of the best adventures happen out of the blue, so when the desire to get-up-and-go is just too hard to resist, packing fast and smartly is essential. If you're anything like me, you want to travel light, but, naturally tend to pack more than you need. Here's how to up the ante when the open road is calling; opt for easy, go-with-anything pieces in an effortless neutral color palette that travel well.

Dress like it matters. As a model, I get to wear a lot of nice outfits, and this is one of them. It looks like a cool, sophisticated, striped dress, but if you look closely, you'll notice that it's actually separates. It's form-fitting but not tight, and super comfortable. A style star for warmer days, there's no need to second guess the easy elegance of this ensemble.

SPRING REFRESH...Vol. 2 April 12, 2017 04:00 1 Comment

What is it about this time of year that makes us so happy? Warmer weather. Blooming flowers. Chirping birds. Golf season. All of these are good reasons, but one of the best has to be shopping the fresh crop of spring fashions that reflect the seasonal change and are ready to move into our wardrobes with ease.

Rounding out my selections of spring essentials, my focus is on fresh silhouettes to punctuate your look for the new season. Florals, stripes, sheer details, gingham, and unique accessories are capturing my attention, and I love it all! So make a little room in your closet for some of these key themes that will brighten your wardrobe and survive well past spring.

Florals are popping up everywhere this time of year, and I love the splash of colors in this design. The cheerful print on the Artist top is soft, inherently feminine, and ready for the summer months too. Pair it with jeans and heels for going out, or shorts and sandals for a casual look.

Get the look: Top- Ecru

Stripes are a perennial and personal favorite, and the menswear-inspired Homeostasis shirt is given a stylish update with a tie-front; sometimes a little detail is all it takes. I like how the white tab collar and cuffs look especially fresh when paired with white jeans.

Get the look: Shirt- Bailey/44

The mix of accordion-pleated bell sleeves and box-pleated bodice is what appeals to me in this beautifully tailored sheer top. Designed to be loose-fitting and universally flattering, you'll look polished and put together whether in combination with jeans for daytime fun, or a more structured bottom for evening chic.

Get the look: Top- Donna Degnan

Off-the-shoulder is here to stay and this gingham top makes beating the heat oh-so-stylish. Perk up your everyday look with this vacation-ready top that literally packs down to nothing, doesn't wrinkle, and always looks good. It's the ultimate style to suit all shapes; everyone has nice shoulders. I could easily live in this top all spring and summer.

Get the look: Top- Elliott Lauren

Why carry something boring when you could carry this? Invest in a small but distinctively designed bag in a pink sugary tone, a seasonal color favorite. The pebbled-leather cross-body will easily hold all your essentials and free up your hands for your morning cup of joe.

Get the look: Cross-body- Laggo

Accessories are the easiest way to update your wardrobe. Cut from the softest leather, this metallic cross-body is perfect for your phone, keys, lipstick, and credit cards...all the important stuff.

Get the look: Cross-body- Carla Mancini

Spring signals a new start and an opportunity for you to refresh your style. So try something you haven't tried before, but don't hesitate, these styles won't be around for long.

SPRING REFRESH...VOL. I March 29, 2017 04:00 1 Comment

It's officially spring! And with it comes the assurance of longer days, lighter nights, rising temperatures, and the perfect excuse to do some "spring cleaning" in our closets. It's the unofficial beginning of a new fashion cycle, a time to start afresh and ditch things that make you feel anything less than fabulous. Spring is often associated with renewal and reinvention not only for our senses, but for our wardrobes as well. Let's update your wardrobe with some beautiful new spring clothes/accessories that will relate to your personality and lifestyle. These aren't just nice-to-have pieces, but more like must-have pieces, to capture a mood while refreshing your style.

To celebrate a new season of style, I've put together all the ingredients for a spring fashion reboot. I have so much to share, I had to split the inspiration into two separate blogs; (Vol. II posts next week). Personally, my go-to list involves the following: ruffles, colorful/functional accessories, dress/cardi combo, sheer panels, and lace. Like the changes in our gardens this time of year, your new style is ready to emerge.

Sometimes all you need is one great top to get your style mojo going, and Donna Degnan's ruffle/cold shoulder top will do just that. I would refer to this top as "lazy girl chic," because it's super flattering with zero fuss, and works with everything. Perfect weight, perfect drape, perfect shape...perfect for you!

ViVi Designs lightweight woven scarf is the perfect layering option to step up your everyday look, and, it just happens to be in the color family of Greenery, the Pantone Color Institute 2017 color-of-the-year.

Do you know that feeling when you get dressed in less than 30 seconds, look fantastic, and seem like you have everything under control? That's the reaction you'll have in this pull-over dress from 360Sweater. It's lightweight, has discrete little cut-outs, and is ideal for dressing up or down. The olive-color pairs beautifully with the rosedust cardigan from 360Cashmere, and you will love how this dusty-shade compliments so many colors; soft and calm neutrals. This pretty layering piece is how you take cashmere into spring.

So, I know the color black is not traditionally associated with spring clothes, but it sure is chic; and it could be that very randomness that makes it so. The sheer yoke on Bailey44's cross training top is understated and contemporary with an ageless design that will fit seamlessly into your existing wardrobe. It's perfect for lunches, brunches, parties, dinner other words, pretty much everything.

Give a nod to the seasonal change with a bag worth toting this spring. If you always play it safe, have some fun with Laggo's denim cross-body. The leather tassel and floral embroidery on the strap is sporty and youthful. There's enough room to stash your phone, and plenty of other stuff too.

Flora Ashley's racerback tank is a sure thing. It's super soft, versatile, and forms to your body without clinging. The delicate lace-front overlay is accented with tiny sequins for a hint of sparkle. Think minimalist silhouette with a sporty, girly edge; great to layer under a jacket. Don't let this one get away.

The outlook for Spring 2017 is all about stepping out in a fresh layer of style; new season, new beginning, new you. Fashion changes so quickly, so I tend to ignore trends because style doesn't depend on it. I'm not suggesting you do the same, but I am hinting that you take stock and try on different styles to see what looks best on your shape. In doing so, you'll buy pieces that will work for you and outlast any trend. Wear what makes you happy. See you in Bella Land!

Which of these picks are you excited to try this spring? Leave a comment below and tell me what you think.

Professional Polish March 22, 2017 04:00 2 Comments

Getting through the work week is stressful enough, but figuring out what to wear on the job shouldn't be. Wouldn't you agree? What you wear is one of the best ways to communicate who you are and reinforce your professional message, making business style more important than ever. Looking polished and professional doesn't have to mean boring and conventional, and you don't have to shy away from your sense of style to compete in today's marketplace. Think of your professional style as a business tool, a visual voice, and use it to your advantage.

Whether you work in a creative, casual, or corporate environment, dressing for success has its challenges. To meet this challenge, I've put together a portfolio of inspired work-week solutions to help you define your professional dress code, communicate your confidence, and show the world you mean business.

Happy Monday!: Start the week off strong and revitalize your office look with a timeless black-and-white stripe blazer from Damask. Notice the brushed nickel buttons. Then, it's back to basics with a classic pencil skirt from Ecru, that you'll fall in love with. Updated with pull-on styling in a fabric incorporating the perfect amount of spandex for comfort and amazing fit; and if that weren't's washable. Swap the skirt for pants or a dress for endless sophisticated style. The adobe-colored shell from 360Sweater is a quiet neutral to ground the look. Complete this super office ensemble with an unstructured leather shoulder bag/cross-body from Carla Mancini.

Tuesday- Onward and Upward: For effortless work-friendly style, introduce a Damask cardigan in an eye-catching color to your work wardrobe. The minimalist styling gives this cardi a refined edge, and makes it office appropriate. Ecru's linked-print blouse has a forgiving shape and drapes beautifully whether worn as styled or tucked into pants. For a fresh, relaxed look, wear the blouse over slim white pants, or keep it classic with Elliott Lauren's navy pull-on version; either way it's all-day comfort.

Wednesday- Business as Usual? No Way. Freshen up your workwear separates with an A-line sweater/ jacket that brings instant polish to any outfit. Patch pockets and full-front zipper elevate the look of this versatile Damask piece. Add a pop of color with a kiwi sweater from Elliott Lauren, and pull the entire look together with Peace of Cloth's patterned pant. Just imagine the mix-and-match possibilities of this ensemble.

Thursday- Close the Deal: Boost your business style with suit separates of uncomplicated sensibility. Donna Degnan's lightweight crinkle-fabric blazer has shortened sleeves and one-button styling for a touch of structure that defines your waist, and pairs with everything. The v-neck shell from Ecru in a seasonal pastel paisley has a silhouette with elegant drape to flatter a feminine shape. Donna's slightly flared pants are modern and classy and keep the palette neutral.

Casual Friday: If your office doesn't have a dress code, then kick off your shoes and throw on Bailey/44's soft chambray jacket for a relaxed way to introduce casual comfort into your workwear. Pair it with slim stretch pants from Elliott Lauren during the week, and jeans on the weekend for your off-duty style. A cool retro racerback tank with contrasting stripes, from 360Sweater, completes this serious yet playful ensemble. Carla Mancini's sleek leather shoulder bag/cross-body is an ideal work-style choice.

You worked hard to get where you are and smart women need smart office attire. A versatile business wardrobe is a powerful tool to make you feel empowered and energized, not judged. Looking polished and professional can mean different things to different people, so experiment with your office style; if you have to go to work, you might as well look good doing it.

What was your first "real" job, and did you splurge on anything fun with your first paycheck? Let me know with a comment below.

BACK IN STYLE March 21, 2017 22:43 2 Comments

Fresh spring styles have been arriving daily at Carabella for several weeks, and if you're anything like me, then patience isn't your strong suit. So instead of waiting for Mother Nature to make up her mind, I'm packing away my puffer and welcoming spring with open arms and featuring a new crop of tops; but not just any trivial tops. These tops have you covered with all the so-right-now shapes, details, and a common thread...fantastic BACK DETAILS.

For the coming season, tops with back detail emerge as the separate with a cool edge that every stylish woman, like you, will want to wear. Get ready to come out of hibernation and think warm thoughts imagining yourself in any of these easy-to-wear options. I've shopped out several styles that run the gamut, and love them all in different ways. They look good coming and turn heads going. Whether you prefer buttons, lacing, zippers, or artistic cut-outs, Carabella has your back.

Is it a sweater or a cardigan? It can be difficult to choose between the two, so PROJECT came up with a solution and combined the styles. This cardi-sweater all-in-one is relaxed in style and fit, and is the ultimate versatile piece to have in your everyday wardrobe. I enjoy dressing casually and love everything about this for all the styling options. Any spring wardrobe would be incomplete without this little number.

A light, soft-knit sweater is a functional piece for any well-edited wardrobe, and 360SWEATER delivers. The Veda sweater has comfortable stretch and a fit that follows your curves. The back is awe-worthy featuring a criss-cross overlay that forms a gorgeous lattice cut-out for a smart-chic look.

Show off your fun side in this ANGEL sweater that is so versatile you could wear it pretty much anywhere you wanted. The fuss-free silhouette will frame your proportions perfectly. The back is covered in polka dots, a springtime staple, for an easy, casual vibe, making it the way to wear your separates this season. The snap on the front is such a cute detail. What better way to bring spring into your basic wardrobe?

Where do I start with this beautiful top from DONNA DEGNAN? The superbly tailored loose-fitting top looks rather casual from the front, but the back is anything but with a delicate accordion-pleated inset. This modern effect adds a hint of sophistication to any outfit. The functional zipper gives the top a touch of structure and feminine flourish. Perfection? I think so.  **

For those days when I feel like staying cozy and cool, I wear BAILEY/44's incredibly soft Sombreros sweatshirt. Athleisure is one of the coolest trends on the street and easy to achieve with this pullover. The relaxed fit makes it ideal for the gym, but it's designed for everyday wear as well. The peek-a-boo back detail is that little extra I look for to add variety to my wardrobe.

BAILEY/44's Cuba Libre top is a must for the woman who likes to go bold. The flirty lace-up back detail offers just the right amount of coverage and will keep you ahead of the style curve. And speaking of curves, this close-fitting design will flatter all of them. When the clock strikes'll know where to turn.

Add a little luxe appeal to your everyday with this slightly cropped UMA sweater from 360SWEATER. It's a little bit slinky and all-out sassy with a triangular cut-out on the back that adds a modern twist to a classic style. The white stripe trim adds nice contrast and is the perfect finishing touch.

A style-star for warm days, CURIO's lightweight, soft-knitted top is a versatile addition for your spring wardrobe. The easy-going design laces up the back, while the hem dips slightly for a little extra coverage. This top requires an under-layer, so just imagine the color combinations you could wear.

Tops with back detail are one of my favorite wardrobe pieces because they have a creative edge, and are appreciated by women with good taste. I love how they can totally transform your outfit and make you the most stylish woman in any room. Women are lucky in a sense that we can use fashion to do this; we can dress up, dress down, stay conservative and blend in, be cutting edge, or dare to bare. Whatever the case, if you're looking for key pieces to instantly update an outfit, give these fashion forward tops a try, and you'll never look back.

Which type of back detail was your favorite? I'd love to know with a comment below.

**Thank you Melanie for letting me warm up in your Beautiful boutique.

FRINGE BENEFITS March 08, 2017 04:00 1 Comment

Spring is a season of fresh beginnings; budding trees and blooming flowers, but also a time for fun trends to perk up. Fringe is a definite trend for spring, and, by no means, a new trend, there sure are a lot of new ways to wear it. This fun embellishment is turning up on everything from sweaters to hemlines on pants, skirts, and dresses, creating pieces that are perfect for staying on-trend this season. Fringe has seen a resurgence in popularity and will always be an eye-catcher, in varying lengths and styles, with something to suit everyone.

This trend, as with any trend, is to adapt it to your personal style. I am by no means a "trendy" person. My wardrobe is built on classics that rarely go out of style, but when I want to update my look and interpret a trend into my day-to-day wardrobe, I have 5 general guidelines I follow. Take a look at this edit and you'll definitely understand why fringe is a trend worth trying.

1- Less Is More: The key to wearing fringe is simple, wear one piece at a time. Chances are, that item is statement enough. Keeping fringe in the same color family as your sweater will minimize any added bulk and streamline your silhouette. MARGARET O'LEARY offers a refined and unfussy approach to the trend. The eyelash fringe trimming the edges of this textured pullover is subtle and adds dimension in all the right ways.

2- Go Modern: Wear fringe in a modern way and don't try to compete with it as new shapes will keep you looking clean and polished. The split-back on MICHAEL STARS sweater is what makes it contemporary and fresh, while the long fringe keeps it carefree. Why complicate things, this sweater is effortless to fact, it basically does the work for you.

3- Expect The Unexpected: Fashion trends change constantly, and designers like to reinvent them to keep looks current and unpredictable. Fringe adds a playful energy to wardrobe basics, and I love the shaggy fringe at the hemline of these fun and flirty A.Z.I pants; it's chic and unusual and will pair well with most tops in your closet.

4- When/How Will I Wear It?: It's important to look at a trend with a critical eye. Just because something is "so in right now," doesn't mean it is going to look good on you. However, the casual vibe of this CURIO v-neck pullover is so comfortable, you may not want to take it off. This versatile sweater can be worn on its own, or styled smartly with a (white) long-sleeve shirt underneath. And, how cute would this be as a little beach cover-up? Start wearing it sooner than later.

5- Does It Fit My Personal Style?: Am I sure that adding this to my wardrobe will help me create a closet that works for me? The only way to know is to experiment...and have fun. Nothing can replace the LBD, and BAILEY/44 is a brand women can count on for non-stop styles. You don't always have to make a bold statement wearing fringe, which makes this dress perfect for daytime or nighttime, year-round. How could you possibly go wrong with a classic?

Fringe will never go out of style and can be the perfect addition to refresh your spring wardrobe. As with any trend, don't overdo it, as full-on fringe can be a bit overwhelming.  At first glance, you may assume fringe detailing is bold, flirty, and draws a lot of attention to itself, and if those words don't describe your personal style, that's ok. But consider this; fringe is not a passing fad, in fact, it's enjoying its stay. It can elevate something comfy, tone down something dressy, be elegant with a touch of femininity, and as far as trends go, has a lot of potential. Fringe is easy to blend into any wardrobe and can be styled in a more conservative way and still be on-trend. It's an easy-to-wear accent that everyone can enjoy. Give fringe a try...I bet anytime you wear it someone will compliment you and ask, "where did you get that?" And, of course, you can find these and plenty of outfit ideas at Carabella to flaunt your fringe

Your turn...Which fringe piece will be in your future? Let me know your choice with a comment below.

COME RAIN OR COME SHINE March 01, 2017 04:00 2 Comments

Is it just me or has Mother Nature lost her mind lately? Sunny and 70 degrees one day, and the next...snow flurries. Weather is uncertain and completely out of our control, but retaining a sense of style while going through four seasons in one day isn't. Now that we're heading into spring, we need to be ready for anything, especially rain. Having an all-season raincoat is something that many of us overlook, even though it's a staple that every woman should have in her wardrobe. Don't let your rain-friendly outerwear be an afterthought. Shield yourself from the elements without compromising on style and invest in a quality raincoat.

Showers bring changing temperatures, and a raincoat that keeps you cozy and protected, and one you can wear comfortably over a top, sweater, suit jacket, or PJ's, (when you're walking the dog of course), works perfectly during this in-between weather. Although they're not the most glamorous item of clothing out there, a reliable raincoat will have you looking good even when the weather doesn't. Let's have a look at some wear-anywhere rainwear, each with a slightly different approach to keeping you dry and warm.

Well isn't this just dreamy? CINZIA ROCCA has a long established reputation as one of the premier outerwear brands, and this standout coat is a fine case in point. With snap-front closure, and inseam pockets, this softly-structured silhouette is reversible, and would be perfect with jeans on chilly spring days, and over your finest attire on evenings out. The beautiful color is what truly sets this style apart from the existing sea of black and beige offerings. This is refined minimalist styling at its best.

CINZIA ROCCA bridges the gap between casual and elegant with this navy/cream reversible coat. It features a removable hood, notched sleeves, and inseam pockets. I really like the car coat length for versatility, and traveling; a great commuter option. It's roomy enough to fit over your work attire or weekend wear without looking soggy. This coat is polished and practical and you don't have to save it for a rainy day.

If you're looking for a raincoat for everyday use, this ultra-light option from SAVE THE DUCK is a perfect choice. It's slightly oversized, but has flair, so you can throw this on over a sweater or blazer without looking tent-like. The design details include: snap-front closure, welt pockets, drawstring hood, and guaranteed waterproofness.

SAVE THE DUCK designed this coat for those "caught in the rain" moments. Perfect for all conditions, stay warm and dry when the sky opens up and the cold winds blow. This brand guarantees waterproofness, and comes with practical details such as: a zip-off hood, and welt pockets that are secure enough to keep your keys or cellphone. The perfect top layer for transitional days.

This sportier lifestyle jacket from PROJECT is a great weight for spring/summer. Lightweight and packable, it can easily be tossed into a weekender for those "just-in-case" scenarios. The combination of cotton knit and nylon is simple yet protective to keep you dry and comfortable while tackling unpredictable weather. Functional and cool, it's shaped to flatter and can be cinched at the drawstring hem for a more secure fit.

If you've ever been caught by surprise in an unexpected downpour, it's not fun...especially if you've just had a fresh blowout. Being prepared is key. Choose a raincoat that fits your weather needs. I would style any of these coats over sharp separates for work, or conversely with jeans and a tee for casual outings. Colors such as khaki, tan, or black, are safe bets because they are neutrals that easily incorporate into any wardrobe, and compliment most outfits. You can never go wrong with a perfectly designed all-purpose raincoat to keep you in your element of style. Mother Nature, bring it on.

What's your go-to rainy day look? Let me know with a comment below.

BETWEEN THE LINES February 22, 2017 04:00 1 Comment

We've all heard should shy away from wearing stripes because (depending on where they sit), they can make you appear shorter and wider. But here's the skinny...that's just another fashion myth. Women of all shapes and sizes can wear stripes, and come spring, there's no getting away from it. Sure, we all have parts of our body that are thinner or heavier, but the key to looking good in stripes is to create balance and finding the ones that will make you feel the most confident. A simple rule of thumb; horizontal stripes create width and some curves, while vertical stripes create length and elongate your silhouette.

Stripes have a language all their own, and as far as prints go, stripes surpass them all. They are modern, fresh, and youthful. What I'm loving about stripes this season is that they are not just being shown in a nautical-inspired vibe. The ever classic navy/white stripes are sharing the spotlight with combinations of pastels and black-and-white. Though we tend to see stripes in some way every season, they always make a big comeback in spring/summer where they have the most emphasis. Stripes is a basic print and have been in, are in, and will always be in. From big and bold, to thin and subtle, you've got plenty of options, and Carabella has them all. These are some of the styles I recommend shopping, so let's get a head start on this trend and look at some new season essentials.

The cold shoulder trend is sticking around for spring, because, let's face it, everyone can bare a little shoulder, and it's fun! In my opinion, women of all ages and body types can wear this style because the cut-out is so subtle and flattering. Anyone who would normally wear a long-sleeve
t-shirt can wear this CURIO sweater. It's practical, on-trend, and a look everyone is after-classy, yet casual.

360 CASHMERE is paving the way to a beautiful spring with its Clementine sweater. The slightly-fitted cashmere crewneck pullover features multi-colored pastel stripes, and is just want you want if you're looking for a sweater with style longevity. Perfect for cooler spring days. This sweater is going to be your, (or my), bff this spring.

Not everyone likes an all-over stripe, and that's fine. LABEL and THREAD approached the look in a minimalist way and with a lot style. If you're new to wearing this trend, then this may be the sweater for you. It's more on the casual side, but you'll love the details; short-sleeves, stripe patch pocket and side-splits perfect for injecting a punch of color to compliment that tiny hot pink stitch under the arm. I love the easy fit of this sweater and would wear it with everything from jeans to chinos.

Everyone needs a sublimely soft striped sweater in their wardrobe, and AUTUMN CASHMERE proves that with this boatneck-style that is lightweight, loose-fitting, and comfy. In a nod to nautical style, the red twill stripe on the sides, and small gold-tone buttons on the sleeves add a definite sportiness. So perfectly playful and casual, it's the ultimate
off-duty piece...just add jeans.

CURIO's bold stripe sweater has all the right things going for it; flattering v-neck, graphic stripes, lace-up detailing, and it's texture-rich, with a pretty cable stitch running down the front. This could just be the piece your spring wardrobe needs to help you transition in style.

Stripes are a strong style statement and more wearable than you think. Regardless of your body type, there are stripes to compliment you.
So ignore the fashion myth that stripes will make you look bigger. The doubt created in our minds by such myths is confusing, has no merit, and undermines all the effort we put into refining our personal style. I want you to have confidence in your own decisions on what to buy and wear. Clothes should make you look and feel wonderful, match your personality, and suit your lifestyle. Stripes are timeless, and will never go out of style as long as designers keep reinventing them. Don't miss out on wearing stripes because of someone else's rules; forget them and make your own!

So tell me, how do you feel about stripes? Love 'em or not so much?

A NEW SPIN ON CASHMERE February 15, 2017 04:00 1 Comment

Transitional dressing can be a tricky thing to master especially when the weather this time of year is still on a roller coaster. What do you do when your heavy winter layers seem too warm, but it's just a bit too chilly for short-sleeves? Say goodbye to old man winter and hello gorgeous to some tissue-weight spring cashmere that is cold weather-appropriate and warm weather-worthy.

Spring cashmere employs a lighter touch and feels very soft on the skin. Wearing one feels like you are wrapped in an ultra-soft blanket. Always fashionable and so easy to style, cashmere is all about subtle elegance and is a must-have when building or enhancing a wardrobe. Every woman should own at least two cashmere sweaters; one in a classic design and neutral color, and one with a fun shape or graphic, and knockout color. I like to get the most out of my wardrobe and therefore it has to stretch across seasons; and this edit does just that. What I love about spring cashmere is that it works with everything, Monday through Sunday. Let's take a look at some ways to lighten up your wardrobe and refresh your color palette with some essential tissue-weight cashmere in styles that transition as easily as the weather changes. So when the spring-like weather we were enjoying lately suddenly changed over to snow, I put on my snowshoes and headed out for some afternoon fun in the latest Carabella cashmere.

Destined to be one of your favorites, the Tropical sweater from WHITE + WARREN is the perfect shade of coral. This sweater is very lightweight, has a boxy-fit, and cropped styling. Perfect for layering, and adding a splash of color to your wardrobe. WHITE + WARREN's triangle scarf is such a cute accessory, trimmed with tassels, and can be worn many ways.

Another pretty color from WHITE + WARREN, the Dew Mist tunic is light and airy, and truly captures the essence of spring. This hi-lo design pullover is flattering for all body types...not too tight...not too loose. Different trends appeal to different people and the asymmetrical style is such a modern shape. This would be great with denim and boots now, shorts and flip-flops when the weather permits, or wear with leggings for a sunset stroll on the beach. Top it off with ECHO's woven wrap.

If you want to try a little color-blocking but not sure how to take the plunge, ease into WHITE + WARREN's crewneck pullover. In cold weather this sweater works as a layering piece for added warmth, but stands on its own in warmer months. The mesh stitching on the yoke and cuffs make for a playful mix of pattern and texture. You'll love the loose fit, slight hi-lo hem, and you can pair this with pretty much everything in your closet.

A true springtime staple, this semi-fitted cardigan from WHITE + WARREN is a real statement piece in bright citron. Simple and clean, this sweater will have you appreciating the colder months and dreaming of warmer ones. David Cline literally makes a shirt in any color combination you need. The relaxed slouch-style of this snap-front shirt works perfectly with this cardi. If you like to accessorize, this is an ideal backdrop for jewelry, or a pretty scarf, like ECHO's floral bandana. To give any plain outfit a much needed punch of color, this sweater works wonderfully over a white button-down and jeans, as well as your LBD. I love a cardigan...endless possibilities.

Novelty sweaters are so much fun, even for someone who normally gravitates to the classics. 360 Cashmere's casual, go-anywhere ABI sweater is designed with a generous fit and is just the right weight to transition into spring. The subtle asymmetrical hemline falls below the waist for a casual look, and is great with Velvet Heart's Elisa button-down peeking out. The all-over star motif and color-blocking adds to it's understated charm.

Cashmere evokes elegance, and a cashmere sweater will look better, feel better, and last longer than any other sweater you have in your wardrobe. Although it's associated with luxury, cashmere doesn't always have to be dressed up. It looks right at home with jeans and tennis shoes, or shorts and sandals on a balmy summer night. You can even take it to the beach. Yes, it is an investment, but the luxury, styling, details, and versatility of a (tissue-weight) cashmere sweater will pay a dividend every time you wear it. Buy one and wear it forever.

HOW SWEET IT IS February 08, 2017 04:00 2 Comments

"All you need is love." Well, love, and a good fashion sense is all you needIn celebration of Valentine's Day, let's kiss goodbye the cliché flowers and posh chocs, and instead, turn our attention to something fashionable and sparkly. I love fashion as most women do, in one way or another, but it isn't just about's's a part of us. It allows us to experiment with trends or play it safe, but more importantly, to express our personalities without saying a word.

With hearts on my mind, I pulled together some Valentine-inspired looks with one essential requirement- staying power. That means these looks will have a lot of wear left in them long after February 14th. And nothing gets my heart fluttering like beautiful jewelry...that all important finishing touch. You'll love the new baubles and can always count on Carabella to have a collection of unique pieces you won't see anywhere else. So if you're looking for a gift for someone and are short on ideas, or just want to treat yourself, (I mean, there's absolutely nothing wrong with saying, "I love me"), I'm happy to share with you some refreshing options to express your look of love.

Scarlet is the order of the day, and CURIO's mesh hooded sweater surely fits the bill. I can't get enough of this color, it's so energizing, and the easy-going style is ideal for layering and completing a casual look. SUNDRY's Just Love tee adds a bit of whimsey, and the Cha Cha scarf from ECHO is a pretty compliment. The Emile necklace is one of my favorites. When it catches the light, the faceted translucent beads really shimmer. It would literally go with everything you own. I paired it with a turquoise stone/freshwater pearl bracelet from SUZY T for an eye-catching duo.

For an oh so sweet dose of laid-back chic, look no further than this distressed tee by SUNDRY. It's cute coming and going. The cuts in the fabric look undecidedly accidental, and the crossback styling is cool and flirty. You can't go wrong with either of SUZY T's stone/leather bracelets to add some eye candy to your outfit. The smoke-grey Emile Cheq necklace is an understated and beautiful piece to enhance your jewelry collection.

Paint the town red in DONNA DEGNAN's fresh take on the LBD. You will love the universally flattering shape and fit of this A-line dress. I would wear this year-round and style it sharp and sophisticated with a pair of heels, and keep it sporty with a pair of sandals, even dressy flip-flops. So on-trend with a cold-shoulder and softly-draped sleeve, this dress ultimately fits into Carabella's interpretation of classic style with a twist. I love the timeless appeal of black-and-white, so I chose the Frisco necklace to style-up the dress. I couldn't decide which SUZY T bracelet to wear, so I put on both. Pop some color with lapis blue on textured leather or go neutral with a grey-toned stone on metallic leather.

Why wear your heart on your sleeve when it looks so much better on the front of this PROJECT sweater? This cotton crewneck pullover is adorned with a red/navy striped heart and elbow patches, knitted into the sweater. The slight shirt-tail hem is a nice subtle detail. ECHO's Eden striped scarf has all the luscious colors you need to brighten any ensemble. The white-on-white python leather bracelet from SUZY T is crisp, clean, and absolutely stunning.

Instead of flowers that look fresh for, well, maybe a day or two, treat yourself to something that will look fresh forever; the essential white denim jacket. AG has perfected the style by adding stretch to this seasonless staple. You'll love the way it moves with you, so comfortable, especially when driving. SUNDRY does it again with another cute tee. The Love Me Forever tee leaves nothing to chance. I kept the jewelry neutral with the Emile Cheq multi-strand necklace, and balanced the look with an edgy black leather/mother-of-pearl design bracelet from SUZY T

Regardless of what your plans are for Valentine's Day; dinner out, cozy night at home, galentine's celebration (fun, right?!), or absolutely nothing, you don't need a special day to wear any these outfits.

So, whatever your heart desires, Carabella curates a fabulous selection of the latest fashions and accessories, updating constantly, to meet your wants and needs. The key is frequent drop-ins. I discovered and fell in love with Carabella, many years ago; it's where the foundation of my wardrobe is built and where I continue to refine my style through an accumulation of in-store experiences. There's really so much to love about Carabella, but I especially love the sisterhood of the Bella's. Each with unique talents to bear, we're woven into this beautiful fashion tapestry, bound by a common thread...Caring Customer Service.

CURIOUS ABOUT CURIO? February 01, 2017 04:00 2 Comments

Baby, it's still cold outside, but if, like me, you can't wait to break out some new spring style, I'd like to spotlight a capsule collection of sweaters from Carabella customer favorite, CURIO. Now, I'm not talking about cozy fireplace sweaters, this is all about getting out of your winter style rut with a few easy, eye-catching updates.

Even though the weather is unpredictable, let's inject a little spring into your wardrobe and not rely on Punxsutawney Phil to dictate the fashion forecast tomorrow. These are styles I can't wait to wear, (shadow or not), and I think you'll feel the same way. So take a look at this mini CURIO lookbook and let it be your style guide to wakeup your right-now wardrobe.

This is not your average nautical-inspired sweater. The details of this sweater put it in a class all to itself. I love the split-cuff sleeves with cute. Notice how the right side seam carries around to the front of the sweater to create an on-trend asymmetrical detail. It goes well with denim or white jeans. A navy/white striped sweater is a must have staple that every woman should have in her wardrobe.

It's not hard to fall in love with this striped pullover. Soft to the touch and comfortable to wear, this is a great piece because of its versatility. Pair it with a tank top and jeans now, or with shorts in warmer months. If only you could feel a photo, this knit is ultra-soft.

Who doesn't need a fun, zip-front hooded sweater to layer over everything? I would wear this sweater in any season to add lightweight warmth and easy-going style any day of the week. The hem sits at the perfect length and the patch pockets, with side entry, add style and flair.

Soft and sophisticated, this lightweight cardigan is the perfect top layer to elevate the style of any outfit. I like how the drape of the knit gracefully falls away from the body for a slimming, flattering fit. I styled it with a shallow
v-neck, long-sleeve sweater, but it would look great with just a tee shirt. Or, mix-and-match in your favorite shade of frosted blue, beige, or cream, and create your own twinset for a modern style statement.

If you enjoy wearing simplistic styles in soft silhouettes, then you'll appreciate this grey/white striped sweater. The slightly oversized fit, and pullover styling, has a perfectly proportioned drawstring cowl-neck and kangaroo pocket.
The hi-low hemline is great because you won't have to fuss to keep the sweater where it should be. Layering a long-sleeve tee is your best bet in colder weather.

It's not easy to make a brand stand out from the rest, but CURIO never fails to inspire with their designs that are unparalleled, effortless, easy-wearing, and season-spanning. I have a lot of sweaters in my wardrobe, and I love them all, but this latest sampling from CURIO will definitely make me heed my own now or cry later!

How do you make your spring sweaters work while it's still winter?
I'd love to know.

FANCY PANTS January 25, 2017 04:00 2 Comments

Every woman needs a great collection of variety in her closet. As seasons change, it's a good idea to switch things up and add new life to your look. If you're wanting to take a break from your favorite black pants, leggings, or even denim, let's update your wardrobe with something bold, sophisticated, and on-trend. Patterned pants are having a moment, and with a promise of spring in the offing, there's nothing like a great excuse to go shopping for some statement-style to transition into a new season.

Patterned pants are definitely trendy, but individual at the same time. My featured patterns are basically tonal and neutral, making it easy for you to give this trend a try all while staying true to your signature look. Any body type can wear them. The slim silhouette, comfortable pull-on style, wrinkle-free fabric with just the right amount of stretch, and clean lines, (no bulky zippers, pockets, or buttons), are just some of the reasons any of these modern classics belong in your closet. You will love the way these pant fit. Just try on a pair and you will immediately know what I'm talking about. Patterned pants is a trending look for a new season, so let's go shopping and see what the buzz is all about.

(Call to purchase shirt & all pants)

The right fit is most important followed by style, and the jack & jo ARCH pant fits like a dream and looks great. This pull-on pant will hug your curves without being restricting. I paired it with the soft, drapey REGATTA top from Bailey/44 for an easy day-to-evening look.

(Call to purchase all pants)

Another jack & jo pull-on pant that is so comfortable, I styled it with a weekend vibe. The stretch fabric is soft enough to roll up at the ankles for a laid-back look, and the ELLIOTT LAUREN lime green pullover with kangaroo pocket keeps the outfit casual. Add a floral bandana scarf from ECHO for a finishing touch and go about your weekend in style.

(Call to purchase all pants)

KRAZY LARRY designed a pull-on pant that is so practical and comfortable you may not want to take them off. The indigo geometric print is a beautiful compliment to the sunny yellow sweater from CULLEN. The ruching down the sides of the sweater is a nice waist-defining detail. I really like the simplicity and sophistication of this outfit; two uncomplicated pieces that make a striking outfit.

(Call to purchase shirt & all pants)

Convinced you need to try this trend?, then KRAZY LARRY is the way to go. This chic black-and-white print is basic enough to wear with SUNDRY's long-sleeve Fantastique t-shirt, and subtle enough for the office when paired with a tailored blazer and bright sweater.

Although patterned pants look best with basic solid tops, let's shake things up with bold contrast. The yin....Known for her ability to accentuate the female form, DONNA DEGNAN's Jacquard pant in navy/ivory, flatters in every way. The lightweight fabric reminds me of a tapestry, with classic color and great texture; this modern approach to dressing is very cool. The yang....A striped tee from SUNDRY adds visual interest to the creative fusion. When in doubt, a chambray shirt would be a great option.

All of these patterned pants have two things in common; comfort and style. An easy way to try this trend is by mixing one standout item into your wardrobe. These pants are energetic with a cool sportiness, and designed with a feminine, fun-loving woman in mind. You will look good and feel good in these styles. People will notice and admire your bold sense of style. It's all about confidence. It's not what you wear, but how you wear it.

Style tip...when selecting a shoe, (flat or heel), the ideal choice is a solid, (bold) color so the pant is the only statement piece. A solid color shoe grounds the pattern of the pant, keeps the eye balanced, and creates a flattering look from head-to-toe.

PS... I know trying on pants can sometimes be bothersome and more convenient at home, and I can totally relate, but these patterned pants are available in-store only, not on the website.  Stop by and check them out...the Bellas would love to help you pull together a look with your individual flair. You'll be glad you did.

ALL TIED UP January 18, 2017 04:00

Remember the lace-up tops from the '70's? Well, they're back in a big way, and I can see why. Lace-up details are everywhere and though this trend may make you think of a vintage-hippie vibe, the modern versions are anything but. Many of Carabella's favorite designers are embracing this versatile trend by incorporating throwback flair into everything from flowy tops, cool knits, and t-shirts, and I'm totally on board. Who doesn't love a bit of newness? Lace-up details are so now, and if you're looking to give this trend a try, let's start building your new season wardrobe with this fresh edit of stylish, trend-led tops.

For days when you feel like you have nothing to wear, reach for this wear-anywhere hooded top. Effortless everyday style comes courtesy of WHITE+WARREN in this casual pullover. This would be in constant rotation in my wardrobe as the soft cotton fabric makes it ideal for running errands, heading to the gym, lounging, and beyond. Perfect for the beach too. It does have a low v-neck, so a layering tank is needed.

Inject a splash of color into your wardrobe and discover the bright side of pretty with this ladylike tunic top from lynn RITCHIE Silver. It's the small details that add up to make this top eye-catching; the solid color, the minimal lace-up detail, the 3/4 sleeve, and the easy styling. If you're hesitant about trying this trend, then this simplistic top is for you. It would be a faultless addition to any wardrobe.

Polish up your daytime look with Velvet Heart's soft and drapey Lorainne top. Defined by a relaxed fit, collared v-neck, and lace-up placket, this top is unlike most lace-up tops in it doesn't have a plunging neckline. Classic and breezy, this will transition nicely between your cold weather wardrobe through the warmer months ahead.

This super-cool WHITE+WARREN sweater does the lace-up trend perfectly. The sleeveless silhouette in timeless black and white combines a perforated cotton knit with a band of ribbed knit across the bodice. Triple rows of lacing down both sides provides for an especially interesting design. These standout details make this edgy and modern sweater one that will grab everyone's attention.

This might be the cutest t-shirt I've seen so far this season. PHILANTROPHY's soft-to-the-touch cotton jersey tee could be your new favorite weekend top. I especially like how the self-fabric lacing extends over the shoulder for a contemporary take on a wardrobe staple that is anything but basic. Don't shy away from purchasing a t-shirt in the winter; layer it over a long-sleeve version and wear this adorable tee year-round.

It's hard not to find a way to work this SPORTSWORKS STUDIO cardigan into your wardrobe. It works with everything. By all accounts, this is an investment piece, but transeasonal. You will want to wear this sweater season-after-season with its classic design and beautiful lace-up details on the sides, and down the back. Personally, I like the versatility of this sweater in such that subtle changes in styling make it work from day to night. Color will pop under this luxe optic-white cardi, while replacing a dressy tank and scarf with tried-and-true double denim makes the outfit more casual and intriguing. (Basic rule of thumb...keep the denim washes completely different to pull off the look). This sweater has it all from refined sensibility to street-style edge; it's all in the styling.

So there you have it...lace-up details are all the rage right now bringing a wave of nostalgia in a modern age. Luckily, Carabella has stocked up on many variations of this trend to fit any style and budget. If you don't have a lace-up garment in your wardrobe yet, this would be the time to do so. Trends come and go, and honestly, we don't have to opt into all of them, but this one definitely deserves a spot in your new season wardrobe.

Any trends you've been loving lately? I'd love to hear what you think.

IN THE NAVY January 11, 2017 04:00 3 Comments

There are a couple of things you can count on in fashion this time of year; great sales, (still going strong at Carabella), and navy blue starting to take center stage. Navy is one of my favorite colors because it's timeless, sophisticated, and looks good on everyone. As the kickoff color for resort-wear, navy is squarely on the agenda for spring, and for good reasons. Crisp and confident, navy is applicable for daytime or nighttime. And unlike black, which I'm getting kind of bored with, it's less harsh but just as forgiving, which makes it a universal color.

For fabulous examples of how versatile this classic color is, I pulled the latest looks from some of my favored designers, featuring interesting shapes and designs, to help you refresh and build your new-season wardrobe. Scroll down for some outfit inspiration.

Comfort meets style in this go-anywhere top from JUDE. From the front, the solid navy blue top looks a bit typical, but when you turn around, the striped back delivers the style. How cute is that exposed zipper? The flattering scoop neckline, hi-low hem, and wide grey banding is a fresh approach and makes this top perfect for casual wear. Would look great with denim too.

If you're a fan of BAILEY/44, (and who isn't), this top is a classic. Cut long and lean, the soft, stretchy fabric means this top will keep its shape. I'm still loving the cold-shoulder look because it's complimentary for all body types.  There isn't another color that stripes as well as navy blue, as evidenced in this trendy style.

WHITE+WARREN gives the classic boxy sweater an update with functional side-button detailing. Perfect for wearing over a tank, undo the buttons to expose more of the color. Wonderfully relaxed and sporty, this cotton crew is the ultimate off-duty look. I love that this is a comfortable alternative to cashmere.

A navy top is a classic addition to any wardrobe, and this design from BAILEY/44 is sleek and chic. The super-lightweight pullover features an asymmetrical cutout detail at the shoulder that is sure to turn heads. Enjoy the comfort and fashion-forward appeal of this striking top. Add an infinity scarf to change up to look with just a hint of an exposed shoulder showing.

Flirty shoulder-baring cutouts and an all-around ruffle combine to create a stunning top in soft navy chambray. DONNA DEGNAN aces modern elegance with just the right amount of feminine and chic. The unexpected surprise I discovered is that you can wear this top two ways. When I put it on the first time, my arms slipped over shoulder ruffle and it became a sleeveless top. Though I knew this is meant to be a cold-shoulder design, the fabric is soft enough for the ruffle drape gently under your arm. I love a twofer!

No matter what your personal style is, navy will fit in perfectly. If you love the color as much as I do, stock up on it now. Navy is a year-round color, always in style, and a great neutral. On a final note, my color crush for navy is mint. I showed it in small doses with a layering tank, accessories, and even my nail polish for something a little unexpected.

CHILL OUT January 03, 2017 23:49

It's the beginning of a new year, (yay!), and after weeks of holiday hustle, I'll bet all you can think about is relaxing. And why not? Holidays are fun...but exhausting. So with a relaxed feeling in mind, I've pulled together some cozy looks to balance that, I wanna stay in my PJ's all day feeling, with, I need to face the real world and look pulled together. Personally, I'm a big fan of easy-to-wear, fashionable styles and am always on the hunt for fuss-free clothes with extra functionality. SUNDRY is the go-to brand for relaxed shapes, in the softest fabrics, that are perfect for couch-lounging, a quick dash to the grocery store, gym-going, or catching up with friends at that hip corner eatery.

So don't wait for the weekend to slip into your trusted off-duty staples, these SUNDRY styles are sure to become part of your everyday wardrobe. They're just as comfortable as your favorite PJ's, but way more appropriate to wear in public. SUNDRY could quite possibly be the laid-back girl's fashion paradise. Let's get to it!

What a great mantra to start off the new year. The DREAM  BIG hooded sweatshirt has an unstructured silhouette and an easy-worn look that makes it cozy and comfortable. The kangaroo pocket keeps it sporty and relaxed.

(Call to order)

The name says it all; EASY LIKE SUNDAY graphics underline the vibe of this pullover and the irregular, random holes add a well-traveled quality. If you crave comfort, then this is for you.

(Call to order)

You'll love the softness of the LIVE BY THE SEA drawstring hoodie so much it will be hard to take off. Liven up the neutral color with a DAVID CLINE t-shirt in Fruit stripes, a bright accessory, or a top in your signature color.

The OIL-WASH POCKET DRESS is a no-brainer. This versatile piece can look completely different any way you style it. Make it sporty while heading off to exercise class by wearing it over leggings, with a SUNDRY cropped pullover wrapped at the waist, and a pair of low top sneakers. It's city chic with a pair of black tights, chunky-heel boots and a patterned scarf by SUZIE ROHER. The double-layer jersey dress is slightly fitted with intentionally distressed areas to give the fabric a unique finish.

A super-soft tee detailed with, LOVE ME FOREVER OR NEVER, is seasonless and a great way to make a statement about yourself. The easy-going fit makes it perfect for layering during cold months, and it stands on its own in warmer months.

(Call to order)

Nothing but good karma will come your way when you wear this relaxed-fit softie. The KARMA hoodie, my personal fav, looks great paired with those go-to leggings when you feel a little lazy but want to look casual chic...or ate too much pizza the night before. As a very general rule, slouchy tops look best with slim fitting bottoms.

The call for comfort has been heard. If you're looking to build casual, effortless style into your wardrobe, give SUNDRY a try. You can wear these easy, energetic, well-made pieces pretty much year-round. Slouch in style, feel good, and have fun.

What do you like to wear for lazy-day style? Leave a comment and tell me what you think.

BRIGHT. BOLD. PERFECT. December 20, 2016 23:53

With only a handful of shopping days left until the Holidays, time is running out, but options aren't. For those unafraid to leave things 'till the last minute, I have a great gift suggestion. If you appreciate quality, and you will not settle for less, why not give the best of the best...Cashmere.

Cashmere is true luxury and a staple of holiday gift giving. If you want to make your loved ones feel special, surround them in something soft, lustrous, and warm in equal measure. The high quality of cashmere means clothing will last a long time and always look beautiful. You'll fall in love with this collection of seasonal brights that will make getting dressed even on the coldest days a pleasure.

In some cases, all it takes is a simple piece of clothing to make an impact, and this citrusy-lemon v-neck from PROJECT is a perfect example. The color alone will make you stand out in a crowd, and break the monotony of classic black or grey which is so popular in colder months. This season I'm loving a slightly oversized sweater paired with leggings and boots. Play around with your accessories for unstoppable style options.

It's the ultimate in style and comfort from 360 CASHMERE, and the perfect sweater for a lazy day at home or if you're on the go. Instantly update your outfit with this festive color combination of rouge/pink. Cashmere is all about the feeling, and you'll feel relaxed, warm, and cozy in this sporty crew neck pullover.

The clean lines of this loose-knit 360 CASHMERE v-neck makes it a modern wardrobe staple that is ideal if you're looking to make a simple, yet elegant appearance. It's super versatile, and lightweight, so, perfect for layering. The DEBBIE MARTIN DESIGNS scarf is a pretty accent that will transition nicely into spring.

(Click this picture or order scarf)

One of the characteristics of cashmere is that it takes to color beautifully and this vibrant orchid sweater is as cozy as it is striking. This bright beauty from PROJECT has 5-button henley-styling and 2 small chest pockets. As the clock counts down to Christmas, now's the time to get really focused on finding the perfect gifts for those special people on your list. If you're stumped for a good gift idea, why not give the gift of comfort? I can't think of a better idea than giving comfortable, multi-functional, fashionable clothes that will always have a place in our wardrobes. And by comfortable, I don't mean frumpy or sloppy, I'm talking about clothes you can actually do things in from day to night. These casual, active-oriented styles are perfect for shopping, dining out, working out, traveling, or where ever your day takes you. Is there anything better in the world than being cozy and comfortable? Nope, there isn't. The week between Christmas and New Year's is spent totally hanging out and relaxing, so be inspired and browse the picks you'll reach for over-and-over again.

Are you excited for the holidays?

The Stockings Were Hung By The Chimney With Care-abella! December 07, 2016 06:30

So you've made your list, checked it twice, but realize you still need a few stocking stuffers to complete your holiday shopping. Though we're not in last minute mode yet, don't wait until the eleventh hour to pick up some great gifts for the very special people in your life. Finding stocking stuffers that will thrill takes some thought, so let me make things a bit easier for you and share some suggestions that won't have you defaulting to a gift card. There will be no eye-rolling and certainly no re-gifting when you give any of these festive little somethings. And remember to treat's perfectly ok to self-gift.

What a cool idea this is. BOOT TIGHTS are premium tights with a cushioned invisi-liner sock that keeps your feet comfy all day long. Choose from two styles; a low profile liner that stays hidden in heels and flats or a performance sock with compression arch support that keeps your feet snug in boots while walking in that winter wonderland.

Leave it to WHITE+WARREN to come up with a sumptuous cashmere sweater with easy elegance and an eye-catching bodice detail. The crochet-ring crew neck sweater is gorgeous, soft, and semi-fitted. Celebrate the season in style in this winter-warm wardrobe essential.

Who wouldn't love a lightweight cashmere popover by Tina Stevens nicely rolled up in their stocking? Wear it year-round over anything from a dress to denim, or style it as a neck-warmer. It's available in plenty of luscious colors, but this soft sky blue and pretty peony are my favorites. The one size approach takes the guesswork out of wondering...will it fit? Add a scarf for that finishing touch.

Dashing through the snow will be fashionable and fun, in this cute pullover, scattered with stars, from 360 Cashmere. The super-soft and light-weight fringed wrap, also from 360, is the perfect layering piece. Together they make an exceptionally cozy duo. Everyone needs a pair of Echo tech gloves. Pick up a few in your favorite colors

Add some wow to your wrists when you accessorize with one, two, or three of these sparkling beauties from HEET. I'm drawn to anything shiny, and these crystals are the clearest I've ever seen. They are so pretty you could hang them on your tree. Each handmade bracelet is unique in its craftsmanship featuring leather, Swarovski crystals, metal, or pearls. Bold and modern, there's no need to match when stacking these tiny treasures. I especially love how these three bracelets create an arm party! See the full collection at the boutique...they are hard to resist.

Big gifts are nice, but stocking stuffers are those little extras that make gift giving fun. So ditch the boring standbys and make this holiday merrier than the last by filling some stockings with unique surprises that will bring a big smile to someone's face this Christmas morning...yours. Get Gifting!

What are your stocking stuffer ideas to add to this list?

Bring on the Sparkle November 30, 2016 01:17 1 Comment

I love everything about the holidays...decorating, baking, wrapping gifts, the music, Hallmark movies (yep!), and especially the parties. But the most wonderful time of the year can also be the most stressful when you're trying to decide on what to wear to all the holiday parties you're invited to. With less than a month to go before Christmas, the time has come to take a close look at your style for the upcoming party season. Holidays are the time when sparkle and shine starts to make its way back into our wardrobes, so style it up in sequins, shimmer, and lace accents, and you'll be on the best dressed list at every cocktail party.

So whether you're rocking around the christmas tree, having yourself a merry little Christmas, or observing the Festival of Lights, I've rounded up some sparkly ensembles to consider when choosing your perfect holiday look.

What's a cocktail party without a fabulous cocktail outfit? This Eva Varro cold-shoulder  swing tunic and pull-on skirt is the perfect mix of elegance and effortlessness. It has the right amount black and silver sparkle to make the season bright. The skirt is reversible from all sparkle to black with band of glitter at the hemline. Pssst...It's the last one in the store, get it while you can!

The simplicity of this Elaris crew neck sweater is what makes it classic and sophisticated. The overlay has a hint of sparkle transforming it into a must-have piece of understated glamour.

Imagine all the great outfits you could build from this Eva Varro cardigan jacket. It's reversible, simple, stylish, and lends itself easily for day-to-night options. Mix-and-match it seamlessly with a black bottom, jeans (denim or white), or the skirt from the first photo. A matte black sleeveless top with detachable neck tie by, Feel the Piece/Terre Jacobs, is a nice compliment to the sparkle.

Understated style is what Eva Varro does best. Keep it simple and elegant in this black soft and drapey tunic with lace inserts at the shoulders. It's the details that'll set you apart in this beautifully versatile, all-season outfit.

Give a denim jacket instant glamour by wearing it with a black sequin skirt from lynn Ritchie SILVER. Although the skirt is essentially cocktail attire, it balances the casual edge of the jean jacket. This modern mix of urban chic includes a cotton t-shirt with the word, NICE, across the chest, (because that's what matters), and a fluffy racoon collar. Style simplified.

A great mash-up of textures creates this head-turning ensemble. The 360 Sweater in soft grey alpaca has a mock cable stitch and is an unexpected, yet modern mate, to this Michael Stars blush sequin skirt. Ideal for day or evening.

Take the reigns this holiday season and give your style some sparkle. Any of these outfits, which translate well on all body types, would be stunning from festive family gatherings to New Year's Eve celebrations. But don't take dressing up too seriously...have fun! By planning what to wear in advance, you'll avoid the last-minute panic mode and shine brightly this holiday season.

How will YOU be dressing for your holiday parties?

A Touch of Luxury November 23, 2016 03:07 1 Comment

Velvet is back in a big way this holiday season and in the most luxurious ways. Traditionally when we think of velvet, we think of eveningwear, but let's think beyond that. The versatility of this classic fabric makes it a great staple for daywear too. Plush and soft, velvet adds a touch of glam to any outfit. The key is in the styling. To incorporate velvet into your everyday wardrobe, pair it with casual pieces from your closet like denim, a cotton tee, or a basic black skirt as to not look costumey.

Velvet is a seasonal fabric, it's festive, regal, and just feels right this time of year. If you're hesitant about wearing velvet but have always wanted to give it a try, now's your chance. Velvet is definitely having a moment and makes a great style statement!

No longer is a blazer simply a blazer. This tailored black tuxedo-style blazer from Bailey/44 is an all-time classic and will take you from day to evening without much fuss.  You can wear this over anything from party dresses to jeans and a tee. What makes this outfit work is the different textures; velvet, denim, and cotton. The contrast satin trim keeps the look smart-casual.

Black is the undisputed classic when it comes to velvet colors, but this rich berry hue is a timeless alternative. This burnout velvet top from Bailey/44 has a modern silhouette, is flattering, and when paired with a simple black bottom is a real eye-catcher. For day, balance out the look with your favorite's a good contrast between formal and casual.

Feel The Piece by Terre Jacobs designed this velvet dress that is the perfect choice for the holiday party circuit. It's comfortable and luxurious. The straight-forward trapeze cut of this dress is enhanced by the texture of crushed velvet. Layer on the pearls or just wear a pair of sparkly chandelier earrings for a can-do-no-wrong look.

Nothing says holiday style quite like velvet. The design details on this Yoana Baraschi top pushes it to the next level. The embossed velvet is so luxe, and the lacing on the front (and back) adds a little edge. The sculptural sleeves give this top a subtle hint of elegance and instantly cocktail friendly, even when paired with denim.

For nighttime glamour, this Bailey/44 dress is fashioned in a way that you will want to wear it again and again. The easy pull-over style of this stretch velvet dress has a beautiful attached capelet with breezy split sleeves. If you're dressing for a party, this will serve you well on many occasions.

Don't shy away from velvet this holiday season, in fact, let this luxury fabric step up your style a notch. Velvet looks best when paired with pieces of different textures to keep it grounded. I especially like it with denim because it elevates even the most casual outfit. I think you'll like it too.  As an incentive to give this look a try, stop in the store today (only) and scoop up some denim at 50% off! Loyalty gift certificates not applicable. By reimagining velvet with some of your wardrobe staples, for day and evening, you'll get noticed for all the right reasons.

The holidays are getting near and everyone's favorite, Thanksgiving, is up first. We all know it's all about the F-O-O-D, but it's also one of the most popular family gatherings of the year, so you'll want to look your never know if you'll show up on someone's social media feed. So how do you look stylish and pulled together and still have room for second helpings without looking stuffed? White + Warren's royal blue textured sweater with raglan sleeves is cozy, ultra wearable, and the perfect companion to your favorite leggings. Scarves don't always have to be worn around your neck...I like styling this colorful square scarf as a bracelet!

There's so much to love about this cashmere sweater from White + Warren.
It's super soft, a beautiful grapefruit heather color, has ribbing detail at the neck, sleeves, and hem, and the slight hi-lo hemline keeps you covered

I'm not a fan of sweatpants for holiday dinner, but when they are as cute as these, I say, go for it! Sunday's has comfort and style defined with this navy knit blazer with side pockets and slim-fit sweatpants with fully functioning zippers down each leg. The pieces have just the right amount of stretch for an easygoing vibe. Wear with Sunday's twisted v-neck long sleeve tee, and top it off with this pretty pink-striped blanket scarf from Echo.
